Francesco BARTOLOZZI (Florence 1725 or 26 - Lisbon 1815) "La Vertù couronnant la Noblesse" Original etching and engraving from an oval composition for a plafond by Francesco Fontebasso, signed in the lower right plate and published in Venice by Wagner according to biographers around 1762. It is the only subject that Bartolozzi engraves from an invention by the Venetian painter. Beautiful specimen according to DeVesme in a single state, even if the presence of the numbering 33-6 on the bottom left could authorize it to be classified as it happens for other sheets of the same type as a second state, printed on typical eighteenth-century laid paper bearing the watermark "Tre Lune" "Similar to Heawood 871, referable to Venetian paper production of the mid-18th century, with large margins beyond the imprint of the slab, with the trace of a slight horizontal central fold visible mainly on the reverse but overall in excellent general condition . Very rare. Bibliography: DeVesme – Calabi “Francesco Bartolozzi Catalog des Estampes” Milan1928 n ° 739. Heawood "Monumenta chartae papyraceae" Hilversum 1986 No. 781. Measurements in mm: 425 x 334
